And Jesus said unto them, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.” And they were amazed at Him. Mark 12:17
So Jesus said to them, “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.” They were utterly amazed at Him. Mark 12:17
Whether you have an old version or an updated version of the bible (or even if you have never read the bible at all) you have probably heard this quote. Although I am not going to get deep into this quote, I think it resonates quite well, today, on tax day. For a deeper dive into how this biblical passage should affect how we live, watch this video.
Hopefully! you have finished your taxes and rendered unto our government the share of their money that they deemed appropriate. But what now? What can we give God? What does God want?
Well, God doesn’t want Caear’s money. It is useless to God as merely money. But God does want the good that we might be able to do with Caesar’s money. What we can accomplish if we use our gifts, IS a gift to God.
Today, for the 35th day of lent, I urge you to find a way to put at least $35 of your money, to use for God’s glory. If you don’t have $35, find a non-financial way to help someone else, by visiting them, watching their kids, cleaning their home, or praying for them.
Get your money. You can give it to someone who crosses your path or your mind today. Say a prayer that God will show you where He wants you to share.
- If you see someone having trouble at a grocery check out line, watching every penny to try to get the food they need…
- You see someone put only a couple of dollars in their gas tank…
- You know of a friend or a loved one that could use a little help right now…
- There is a charity out there that you have always thought did good work…
- You would like to show a little extra support to your church…
- Or you would like to show support to another church that is facing tragedy…
- You see a news story about anyone who is not as blessed as you are…
Walk up to them and give it to them. Give the money or your card to the cashier. Set it down where they are sure to find it. Transfer it electronically. Call or go online.
